AD-RITR is a vanity license plate I created in 1995 while in Missouri, the "Show Me" state.
Once I moved to New Mexico, I again registered the personalized plate in the "Land of
Enchantment" and now that I'm back in my home state of Iowa, I have the plates here too.

I wanted my business identity to say something about what I do, and tell a bit about my creative
personality as well. While it proves to be a difficult name for many to get right (especially those
telemarketers who stumble with "Ad-Ritter"), I realize that my prospects are the people who
WILL get it -- the first time! And hopefully, they'll smile (or even chuckle) at my creativity.
Of course, the license plate logo probably helps put the two together even more clearly!

BUSINESS BACKGROUND
As one who wrestles with a true entrepreneurial spirit, I always knew I was destined for
business ownership. In fact, I'd been considering my own ad agency for a while before I
found the opportunity to AD-RITR Creative Services. Now after a decade in business,
I've successfully built a solid client base and worked with a variety of industry-leading
accounts. While I've been tempted at times to return to the agency side, it would take a
rather rewarding offer (and not just compensation, but client and creative aspects as well)
to convince me to pull down the shingle I've had hanging on the door since 1996.
To be a successful business owner, you have to be dedicated to working.
Sure, you can take a day off without anyone else's permission, but you
probably won't get paid for that vacation day. I'm constantly motivated to
get more productivity out of each day and can work with clients on
either coast by starting early and finishing late. If the job calls for so-called
"overtime," I put it in to make progress on the project. But I'm also a firm
believer in finding a healthy balance between work and LIFE so I'll take
my share of days off to clear my creative brain a bit. That not only benefits
me but also my clients ultimately!
Another very important aspect of my business is the ability to operate as a
virtual vendor. With the internet, our global community is now totally in touch
24/7/365 via email and websites. I have both a desktop and a laptop so I
can work in the office and in any mobile location (or on the way to one).
Many of my long-time clients have enjoyed working with me and yet have
never met me face-to-face. I have no problem with traveling to meet you
or learn more about your project. And you're always welcome to meet me
here in Iowa as well! I'm located near Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Iowa in the
northeast corner. I'm about 2 hours from Des Moines, Dubuque or the
Quad Cities. It's 4-6 hours to Omaha, Minneapolis or Chicago.
In some cases, my clients have refrained from hiring a full-time in-house
staff copywriter because of my ability to serve them as an employee with
a long-term retainer agreement. It's a way to fill a need for creative
expertise without having to invest in office space and benefits. I can still
join you for a conference call (no doughnuts for me) and we'll get a lot of
great work done without a lot of time- and money-wasting posturing.
Do the math and give it a trial period...I'm sure you'll love the added value
of an experienced copywriter without the added cost of a full-time employee.
